Narrative Shorts Competition

Films in this category need to have compelling narratives and characters. We ultimately want stories that have good conflict, characters that an audience will care about, and plots that are not always predictable. Like all of our entries, we want these shorts to exemplify fillmmakers’ creative vision. Please feel free to stretch beyond one genre, i.e. a dramatic film does not have to be devoid of action nor comedic elements, etc. *All genres welcome!

Documentary Competition

Experienced and first time documentary filmmakers are invited to bring new life to the realm of non-fiction. Utilize as many or as little of the narrative techniques that you deem necessary! Just make sure that your stories have a beginning, middle, and end. Your point of view is critical, in that it allows the audience to experience your world, your character profile, chronicle of an event, etc. through your eyes.

HD Competition

Our HD showcase will feature both fiction and non-fiction works that take advantage of the next level of digital filmmaking. HD works must primarily tell us compelling stories, however, films that really make use of the technology through stunning cinematography and/or technique may be given extra consideration. . *All genres welcome!

Digital Animation Competition

Animators of all levels will be showcased in this competition. We want 3D, Anime, Classic 2D, Rotoscoping, Stop Motion, and even flash animators to exhibit their finely tuned work at our festivals. The real question is: can the animators go beyond wowing us with their technical mastery and tell us a memorable story?
